Power Rack 4.1 – Residential By B.o.S.
Short and sturdy
Was looking for a short option to make use of the pull-up bar in a basement; very glad I found this one! Sturdy and balanced freestanding on a flat floor. Almost no detectible movement at all during pull-ups or when racking weights. The metal spotter arms are a little awkward (and noisy) to put in place, but it's worth it to know that they're there and they're solid. The protective J-cups reposition with ease, are sturdy (EVERY piece of this thing is sturdy) and make un-racking easy for bench and squats. Assembled solo without any difficulties - every piece fit flush. Even though the short (72") version was EXACTLY what I wanted and needed for my location - just know that it is, in person, really quite short. I'm only 5'7" and I need to bend my knees at 90 to do chin-ups from a dead hang.
Hey Andrew, Thank you for the positive review. We are happy to know that the sturdiness of our rack exceeded your expectation. Again, thank you for the awesome review. Lift on!
Great garage gym rack, my only issue is the pull up bar, an option for different coatings would be awesome!
Hey Keiran, Thank you for your great review. We are happy that you liked the rack, we appreciate your feedback regarding the different coating for the pull-up bar. We'll discuss this as a team and consider it in the future. Again thanks for being an awesome customer. Happy lifting.
Great rack for a great price!
We bought the rack using the "home gym builder" option in December 2018. I wanted to test the rack extensively before posting a review and now that I have, I can say it is great! I was honestly surprised by how stable the rack is without being bolted down. I (strength) train 3-5 times a week and it feels as good now as it did when we first got it. The price was great and the service (from Bells of Steel) was excellent. The only thing I would criticize is the freight company. I called them several times and they said it was coming on time and then they said that they had lost our packages (rack, barbell, etc..) and then randomly delivered it the next day. The boxes were a bit beat up as well but no damage to the actual stuff inside so whatever. I would definitely recommend this to anybody looking to start a home gym.
Hi Jordan, I can’t thank you enough for your kind review. I love hearing that the rack stability exceeds your expectations! I appreciate your feedback about the freight companies, shipping is an ongoing battle and we constantly strive to refine and improve. Thanks again for your support and writing this awesome review. Happy Lifting!
Overall experience was pretty good. I ordered this rack and a utility bar. There were some shipping issues with the bar. I originally received the wrong bar and it took quite some time for them to get it returned and get the new bar to me. Now to the rack! First, for the price and having it shipped to me, was a big selling feature for me. I live in a rural area on an island, so options are limited. The rack is good quality steel, good welds. There were a lot of scratches and scuffs in the finish, but for me this isn't a huge deal. It doesn't need to look pretty. Unfortunately I'm finding the safety bars really hard to use. One side goes on ok, scrapes a bit and the finish is coming off. But the other side I can barely get into the holes, it makes loud screeching sounds when I do and the end is already rusting. Granted, I do live in a humid climate, but I've only used the rack twice. I've tried adjusting the rack, loosening and tightening bolts, trying to get it straight so the safety bar goes on better, but it didn't seem to help. Also, the protective covers for the safety bars are super annoying. I understand why people might like them, but its just a pain to try and get those on while getting the safety bars in. I'm basically just going to never use the protective covers. So, all in all, not a bad peice of equipment for the price and convenience. Some things that are irritating and will probably keep me shopping for a new rack sometime in the next few years.
Thanks so much for the review! Email us firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll get those spotter arms trouble shooted.
