Simple and effective

Purchased 2 to have low row capability. I have a square-footprint rack but very tight on space, so noting the complaints about cable length, it is super easy to tweak pulley locations (and location/angle of my body and bench) so I can do rows, lat pull-downs, face pulls, and tricep extensions (so far) with no issues. Then I just loosen the pulley straps and push to the side and I have my full rack back. Since my garage gym space is full, this was the only way to get cable capability of any kind and I’m delighted to say it works great, has smooth action, and does everything I’d use a cable tower for while only costing $100. What’s not to like about a simple design that works?

Just what I wanted

Have a folding squat rack that has a pull-up bar, and needed a way to do pull downs. All the DIY ones that I saw videos of were a little bit sketchy, not sure about weight ratings, quality of the bearings in the pulley, etc. Learned about this one and it seemed to fit the bill, so I ordered it, and a lat pulldown bar, from BOS. Everything is high quality, everything works like it should. I appreciate the several extra snap links. Some people posted that they wished the cable was slightly shorter. I appreciate the cable being longer so I can use it for a variety of exercises. Due to the height of my pull-up bar, I found that if I wrap the nylon strap for the pulley around the bar several times, that gets the pulley higher up. And for the strap/washer that holds the plates, just position it like intended, but just for the first (bottom) plate. Then loop the upper end of the strap across the top of the plate, then past the edge and under and then upward through the hole in the plate. Then add additional plates on top of the first and keep running the upper end of the strap through the holes in those additional plates. This takes up slack in the strap and makes it shorter, and by going both of the above things the cable is now at a good height. Another tip- put a rubber mat at the spot where the plates will come down and meet the floor. Anyway, I think this is a great product at a competitive price and does exactly what I wanted it to do.
